Release Notes

CRM Chart Maps 3.0 Release Candidate

The primary focus of version 2.0 was additional features. Version 3.0 will focus on technical and performance improvements, as well as bug fixes.

If you are upgrading from a previous release, I recommend backing up all your map settings before deploying this release. If you do encounter any upgrade issues, please report them in the discussion forum.

Important Changes in this release:

  • CRM 2011 is no longer supported in this release. CRM 2013 or higher is required.
  • The configuration web resource has been removed. All settings that used to be stored there have been moved to each individual map.
  • The Bing Maps API Key is now stored in the Organization settings. On Prem orgs can enter the Key by going to: Settings > Administration > System Settings. CRM Online orgs don't have that option. So I added a ribbon button on the Chart Map grid and form pages. Either way, the Key is still stored in the same place.

Special Installation Instructions:

  • If performing a new deployment:
    • Import the Chart Map solution
    • Perform a Publish All Customizations
  • If upgrading from a previous release:
    • Backup all your existing Chart Map settings, and configuration settings, including your Bing Map key
    • Import the new solution
    • Perform a Publish All Customizations
    • All existing settings should be automatically moved to the new format

Technical Changes in 3.0 Beta:
  • Complete rewrite of client side code. Massive clean-up effort and significant technical improvements.
  • Increased parallelization. Everything that can run asynchronous, is now running asynchronously.
  • Additional pre-processing. More of the workload is now being performing when a chart is configured, which reduces overhead at runtime.
  • Map settings now stored directly in Chart entity. No more need for end users to have read permission on the Chart Map Configuration Entity.
  • Many miscellaneous bug fixes
  • CRM 2011 is no longer supported
  • The configuration web resource has been removed, all settings are now stored on a map by map basis. And the Bing Maps API Key is now stored directly in the parent CRM Organization entity.

New Features in 3.0:
  • New HeatMap feature: "Dynamic Radius". Try it out!
  • New configuration option: "Show All Records". This option, if enabled, will cause the map to display all records in a view on a single map, up to a maximum of 5000. If disabled, the map will display only the records in the current page of the view. This is disabled by default. If enabled, it is HIGHLY recommended to also enable Location Caching.

Reviews for this release

Good. Can you fix the bug "on click" map entity id? In console I have null and the CRM doesn't go to detail page.
